Multiple PMO Project Office Situation02 November 2007
A company can have multiple PMOs for a number of different reasons, as addressed on the Project Management Life Cycle Page Multiple PMOs. In addition to the model's discussed there, there is one additional model that can be considered, based on the different types of PMOs. If a company has one or more Supportive or Directive PMOs, it may also want to implement a Controlling PMO.
The Supportive PMO would support Project Managers, or the Directive PMO would actually direct their work. The Controlling PMO would independently assess the work processes, successes, and problems in Online Project Management. The value of the independence of the controlling function is discussed on the Reviews and Audits Learning Page.
