Independence in Reviews and in Audits in a PMO

Because the primary goal of the PMO is to ensure that projects are well managed leading to delivery of acceptable results on time and within budget, PMOs should generally use definitions for reviews and audits from the field of project management, not from the field of auditing, where requirements are stricter. However, there are specific times when the stricter definition, and the stricter independence requirements, of the audit profession are required.
