Maturity and Project Control
In individuals, maturity includes the ability to see and understand one's limitations and mistakes, and to correct them. That leads to improvement so the same problem doesn't happen again. The same is true of organizational maturity and project management maturity. To have mature project management, an organization must be able to detect problems in projects, correct them promptly, and change the methodology so that the problem does not recur. Therefore, project control with prompt, effective feedback is essential to online project management maturity.
Effective project control includes the following capabilities:
Project team members must be able to:
Identify issues promptly
Document issues properly
Resolve those issues when they are within the individual's capability
Escalate issues that cannot be resolved at the individual level
