Project Management Training Maturity Model
Choosing a Maturity Model
Each PMO that chooses to develop online project management maturity across the organization should choose a maturity model. For companies that do software development, there are two choices that are global standards – CMMI and OPM3. Companies doing projects that are not all software development have OPM3 has a global standard. Or, any company can choose a proprietary standard from a consulting and training firm.
A standard should be chosen based on these factors:
Fit for the company and its goals
Familiarity, such as experience gained at other institutions
Cost of implementation
The PMO should evaluate multiple models and advise the PMO Steering Committee, who should make the selection.
